Essentially taking a vintner’s approach to cigar making, In 2009, Pete Johnson conceptualized La Vérité. By creating a brand using tobacco from a single vintage and a single farm. Johnson chose a 2008 harvest from José “Pepin” Garcia’s La Estrella farm in Estelí, Nicaragua, consisting of 100% Criollo Habano tobacco. Then the select premium tobacco from one year, and from only one farm, is put through the stringest fermentation process removing any and all impurities. In a non traditional fashion, the aging step of placing tobacco in bales has been skipped and the decision was made to let the tobacco age in the form of a completed cigar. |
